Grow Your IG & Twitch in 2020 with TikTok
Its time we start taking TikTok seriously. I know that you think TikTok is the cringe kingdom because you’ve watched compilations on YT but my friends that is an unfair label and quite frankly an excuse as to why you haven’t gotten on board with it. Personally, Ive gained over 700 IG followers in 3 months for using it.
If you’re trying to grow on platforms like IG or even Twitch then its in your best interest to see what all the fuss is about and start making content now before its too late.
Okay, so for the one person who lives under a rock and doesn’t know what I’m talking about: TikTok is a video-sharing social network used to create short lip-sync, comedy and talent videos. Remember Vine? Think that but instead of 6 seconds, you get 15-30. The content that is shown to you on your discovery or For You page is based on content that you’ve interacted with on the app. So start finding and liking content you want to be fed. The reason why you should be paying attention to TikTok is because at this moment, its unrivalled. While IG and Twitch are all older and oversaturated platforms, TikTok has the unique quality of being in its prime. Right now it only has half of the total users that Instagram does and the algorithm is specifically made for you to go viral.
Don’t you want the chance for your content to be seen by thousands of people? I did, and it worked. I currently have 13 videos that hit over 10k views and 6 videos over 100k. One hundred thousand views and I’ve only been on the platform for 5 months. I’m not saying this to brag, I’m saying this because it is within your reach.
From my understanding, TikTok’s algorithm works like focus groups. When you post a video, its shown to x amount of people, and if it performs well it is then shown to another group of people etc etc. Your videos value is determined by likes, rewatches, shares and if the person watching it follows you after seeing your content. This formula allows you to grow substantially after just one good post and is a very dangerous rush of dopamine that you may get addicted to.
So, how do we use this platform to grow on IG? Like myself, I know you’ve hit an organic plateau. You’ve followed all the tips, tricks, hacks and whatever else to absolutely no avail. Your content is good, your posting in a timely manner, your captions are perfect yet nobody is seeing your posts. My advice? Put a fraction of that hard work you put into your insta and make TikToks. They’re not hard. Use them to advertise your already made content. Showcase your art, your cosplays, and your personality outside of just photos. The more genuine, the better.
The best part about this is you can then use your TikToks and post them on your IG for even more content. The possibilities are endless and if you can’t think of anything super original then just follow whatever is trending on the app! Its all right there, you just gotta do it.
I made this video because I was skeptical before I used TikTok. I thought it was dumb, full of 13 year olds and just not something I wanted to invest my time into. But i was wrong about everything, except the 13 years olds. While it is mainly dominated by Gen Z, the app will only show you content you’ve previously engaged with so just don’t interact with children and you’ll be fine.
Anyways, I’m talking to you guys about this because its proven to have worked for me. Currently, I have 16.8k TikTok followers and 12.3k Instagram followers. I’ve had TikTok for 5 months and I’ve had Instagram for four years. Before posting on TikTok i was stuck at 11.6 on IG for a year. A YEAR. One of my last YT videos shows that since September I’ve grown 700 IG followers. Thats 700 new IG followers in three months. I’ve never had growth like that in all my years on social media. It’s insane. I don’t know how else to describe it. But that just goes to show that there is a much higher chance of being seen on this platform than there could ever be on Instagram.
So take this knowledge and use it to your advantage. If you want to grow your audience, you have to take your content to other platform. Its that simple. Get yourself out there and stop working so hard on something that isn’t benefiting you anymore.
